A Word Heap

Single channel HD animation, 2015

The phrase “word heap” was adapted from Renata Adler’s 1976 cult novel Speedboat, a fragmentary series of “anecdotes, vignettes, jokes, aphorisms, epigrammatic asides, and … eclectic inventories of consciousness.” (Gary Indiana, Bookforum). Here, a psychedelic variety of shapeshifting floating heads jazzily recites a series of nonsensical A.I.-generated texts, spam email contents, and dissociative postings & trollings pulled from social media.
