Daphne In 4 Parts is an improvisatory retelling of Ovid’s Daphne & Apollo, a poetic myth of desire, punishment, and transformation — speculatively staged from the point of view of Daphne as a trauma victim & sexual abuse survivor, who ultimately finds empowerment through her metamorphosis into a fragmented hybrid of surreal bodily and arboreal forms.

This piece represents the last live-action video I made before switching to an all-digital workflow.

The role of Daphne was performed by trans performance artist and actress Nicola Gorham.
