Floralwall - DUMBO Arts Festival

Floralwall is a series of animations depicting dense fields of computer-generated flowers and arabesque patterns continuously blooming and decaying in a cyclical loop — a contemporary, digital reimagining of the still life, the decorative, and the vanitas in art.

Floralwall at the Tobacco Warehouse

As part of the DUMBO Arts Festival 2010 in Brooklyn, NY, Floralwall was projected across two walls in the courtyard of the (now repurposed) Tobacco Factory building, at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge.

Cinematic-scale projections were positioned from the ground up, casting the audience into an illuminated shadow-theater in this former industrial site — a reflection on the passage of time and the relationship between beauty and mortality; a contemporary, immersive nature morte.
